The Happy Daze Of Chris Morris

今日は Chris Morrisのブログより、The ways of happinessをご紹介します。

The ways of happiness
by Chris Morris

I’m in the middle of Robert Holden’s 8-week happiness course – a series of meditations on joy and happiness.

It’s wonderful. Robert is one of the most authentically happy people I’ve ever met, as well as being a great teacher and facilitator.

I love having conversations about happiness. From children to great grandparents, I think we can learn about happiness from everyone.

One of the most interesting things is what we call paradigms of happiness. How do people think about happiness?

Most people seem to think about it as something that has to be earned or deserved. If I work hard, then I can enjoy the weekend. If my kids are happy, then I’ll be happy. (Otherwise I suck and must be miserable.)

Others think about it as something they (can) achieve. They seek bigger experiences, wilder adventures, more stuff, better stuff. If I seduce a supermodel and go on a road trip across America, then I’ll be happy. (Otherwise I suck and must be miserable.)

Some people see happiness as something they already have. It’s like a possession. The trouble with a possession is someone might take it away, so these people tend to guard their happiness and insure against its loss.

If you’ve ever been to a self-improvement event, you’ll have met people for whom happiness has become a journey or even a quest. If they could just find the right map and ignore the distractions, eventually they’d get there. But who has the right map? You can almost hear these people shouting inside their head ‘JUST TELL ME WHERE THE DAMN HAPPINESS IS AND THEN I’LL GO THERE’. Usually they’re looking for the latest sat nav gadget, in whatever form that takes – another book, another workshop… they are usually less and less happy as they learn more and more ways to become happy.

A few people think about happiness as a choice. They decide to be happy. They might take practical steps too – learning techniques to focus their mind; eating in ways that give them constant energy; avoiding people who bring them down, etc. – and if they do, by aligning their attention and intention, they will probably feel good more often than not. This pretty much works; a lot of happy people do it this way.

But the paradigm I like best is the most simple of all. It’s the genuine realisation that you are happy. It’s the knowledge that happiness is your essence; your core. And when you pay attention to your essence rather than the distractions of everyday life, happiness is always there, because you are happy.

Michael Neill has a lovely story about a bowl of cloudy water, kinda muddy water. How would you make it clear? Shake it? Boil it? Sieve it? Add chemicals? None of them really work that great. The best way we’ve found is to let the bowl settle. Let the water stand for a while. And what you’ll notice is the gunk starts to separate itself, because the natural state of water is clear. And the natural state of you is happy.

Beautiful.

It’s too easy though, right? So we go back on the journey, back to earning our happiness, back to defending it.

And yet every authentically happy person I’ve ever met has had the same message: you can’t become happy, you can only be happy.

Have a great day!

1. Planning Big East Asia Tour
You know I love making lessons. I love making videos. I love communicating with you on the Forums.
But my absolute favorite thing is to meet you face to face and teach a big, fun, energetic class LIVE. I absolutely LOVE it!!!!!
And so, I'm SUPER-Excited about planning our seminars in Thailand, Singapore, Seoul, and Osaka!

This year, we'll be doing a lot more. We'll be doing 2 DAY seminars in each of those cities. You'll get lots of information, lots of energy and motivation, and lots of English lessons. And this year, I will have help! Tomoe will be helping with all the behind the scenes stuff. And Joe and Kristin will be helping me teach.

In addition to these 4 big 2-Day Seminars, I'll be doing 5-hour workshops and 1-hour speeches at companies, schools, and organizations in each of these countries (and maybe Malaysia too).
AND, we'll have an Effortless English Members' Party in each city too... we'll have dinner with you and just have a good time.

Since everything will be much bigger, and since we're going to new cities,... I am going to need HELP! I will need help organizing the events: finding inexpensive event planners, booking a room, and getting lots of people to come! We will also need VOLUNTEERS in each city to help with registration, event setup, and event clean up.

I'll be sending emails to fans and members in each of these countries soon... asking for help!

2. Finishing The Power English Bonuses
There's going to be one more SF Video... but I haven't decided where to film it. I'd like to do it at Cafe Puchini, but need to go across town to do it smile.gif
Meanwhile, I recorded two Video Conversations today... one with my good friend Todd, and one with my best friend Kristin. Ill get them transcribed and add them one by one to Power English.
And finally, Ill soon send out an email announcing the second Power English Training Video.
And that will then be the end of the Power English Bonuses. Once those are all finished, I'll focus on the next big project....

3. VIP Member Program
The VIP Member program is a monthly program for you crazy members who can't get enough and still want new lessons from me! wink.gif
To serve you, I'm creating this program-- each month, the VIP members will get a completely new lesson set from me,... AND.. and new video lesson from me (using the movie technique I used with the Tony & Frank video). This will be a monthly subscription program. It's not for everyone,... but for our super-motivated members who want more (or just like to get something new)- I'm sure you'll love it smile.gif

4. My Book
I'm writing a book. I'm playing with several titles, but my current simple favorite is:
Effortless English: Find Your Voice In The Global Conversation
Right now, my second assistant Aimee is helping me organize my writings. She's also helping with research for the book.
The 7 Rules will be the central part of the book,.. with a lot of updates about my thinking and the Effortless English system.

5. Thai Company
I have decided to form a company in Thailand in order to grow our seminar business there. I'm working with lawyers in Thailand now to create the company. My dream is to then create a big "Mega Seminar" in Bangkok for 2011-- with a non-profit partner and corporate sponsors. In other words, some of the funds from the seminar would be given to the NGO/Charity. I really want our business to benefit people and causes that need help. Thai members-- if you know of a great NGO or charity in Thailand, give me your recommendation here smile.gif
Tomoe and I also want to do big seminars in Japan... (its very easy for her to form a company in Japan, obviously).

6. 2 Assistants
As I mentioned above,... I now have two assistants: Sue and Aimee. Sue helps me mostly with website related tasks. Aimee is helping me with administrative tasks and my book.
It is wonderful to have them... they are helping me a lot. I now feel I can do much more, and can focus my energy and time on what I love doing most-- teaching and learning. Thanks Sue and Aimee!

So those are the main projects for the near future. Now you see why I need to be super-healthy and super-energetic! There's lots of great things to do!

To be honest, I'm really excited about teaching you. I love it-- it makes me feel great to teach you, because you are so friendly, enthusiastic, positive, and supportive. I'm especially looking forward to meeting you in Asia-- I hope you can come to one of the big seminars... or at least a workshop.

And if you can't, don't worry. Someday I will come to your region or country.

Meanwhile, thanks for being so great!!!!!

Live with Passion.
Love,

Tomoe

Peace and nuclear weapons

Peace and nuclear weapons

We have a very sad history about nuclear weapons.
on August 6, 1945 in Hiroshima and August 9, 1945 in Nagasaki

We will continue to relay a message of peace from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a message passed on by the survivors, who overcome great difficulties.
In the hope that the people of the world can join hands and face a future free of nuclear weapons. We dont need nuclear weapons!!

Effortless way

Live with Passion.
